S2E14: God King
Season 2 | Episode 14
Marduk confides with Inanna his most recent secret.
Transcript
Yesterday, Inanna and I found ourselves seated at a lavish, high-tech dinner setting atop the highest ziggurat balcony in Babylon. The moonlight bathed the surroundings in an ethereal glow, casting soft, silver hues over the city below. The view was nothing short of breathtaking, with the bustling city of Babylon spread out beneath us, its twinkling lights resembling a sea of stars. I had to confide my most recent secret… I needed her approval, if for nothing else, to at least know that I was not completely insane.
The dinner table, adorned with ornate Anunnaki and human artifacts, was a testament to the fusion of our worlds. Plates of exotic fruits and delicacies from both realms were arranged meticulously, and crystal goblets held a sparkling, otherworldly wine. It was a setting that married luxury with the advanced technology we had brought to Earth.
Marduk:
Inanna, my dearest sister, I must confide in you about something that has transpired over the past few months. As the world of humanity continues to evolve and thrive under our guidance, I found myself unable to resist the allure of their existence. I won’t settle as a passive God of humans. I want to be near them… connect, you see? I prefer to be a king… a good liege… a god king if it comes to that!
Inanna:
Aaww! I actually think that is cute for an ALL-SERIOUS soldier boy!
She actually laughed at me. She has this way of turning everything into a smooth experience… So I pressed on.
Marduk:
I’ve been walking among the humans, observing their lives, their struggles, and their aspirations. It’s a realm of emotions and complexities that I hadn’t fully comprehended until now. Each day spent in their midst has been a revelation, an education in the essence of being their king.
I paused… maybe I needed to muster strength to continue.
As she enjoyed her meal, the moonlight played upon Inanna’s features, highlighting her youthful exuberance and feisty spirit. Her laughter and jests filled the air, adding to the sense of enchantment that surrounded us. Despite a secret, she really is the best sister I could ever ask for.
Marduk:
And then, Inanna, something remarkable happened… I… I met a human woman named Sereth Sarpanitu. She possesses a grace and a spirit that I cannot adequately describe in mere words. We crossed paths during one of my visits to Babylon’s river shore, where I’ve been working to foster knowledge and enlightenment among the humans.
She gasped dramatically almost expecting what I was about to say… and she had THAT naughty look on her face. Yet, to my surprise, she remained silent.
Marduk:
Inanna, I have to admit, I fell in love with her. It was unexpected, a profound connection that transcends the boundaries of our worlds. Her wisdom… her laughter… her unyielding spirit—it all captured my heart in a way I never thought possible.
I know you may have concerns, dear sister, and I respect your wisdom and intuition. This love between a mortal and an Anunnaki is uncharted territory, filled with uncertainties. It raises questions about the future, the balance we strive to maintain, and the potential consequences of our choices. I wish I…
She immediately interrupted my rambling.
Inanna:
Marduk, you old softy! I can’t believe you’ve fallen for a human, of all things.
But you know what? I’m thrilled for you! Love can be a powerful force, transcending boundaries and defying expectations.
It’s precisely the sort of thing that makes life so beautifully unpredictable.
She paused and stood up leaving me lost in suspense. Never before had I felt so anxious… even in the field of battle.
Marduk:
I… I couldn’t keep this hidden from you any longer, Inanna. You are my sister, my confidante, my closest ally in all things. Your understanding and support mean the world to me. Please, share your thoughts with me. I value your perspective more than any other.
Again she turned to me with THAT naughty smile and ran to my arms hugging me. I’m sure I did not remember to hug her back, but it sure was the best hug I could ever receive. I felt instant peace…
Inanna:
You son of a monkey! Of course I see the tragedy you are building there, you know? The consequences and challenges that lie ahead won’t be easy, but we’ve never been ones to shy away from a challenge, have we? C’mon, cheer up bro!
Our conversation about my newfound love with Sereth Sarpanitu flowed naturally, as though the moonlight itself conspired to make it an unforgettable moment. The cool breeze carried the scent of Earth’s flora, a reminder of the world we had come to call home.
As I spoke of Sereth, Inanna’s eyes sparkled with a mixture of curiosity and delight. The moonlight danced in her eyes, mirroring the stars above. It was in moments like these that I cherished our bond as siblings, for it transcended the vastness of time and space.
Inanna:
I’m concerned, yes, but not because I doubt your judgment. If your heart has found a connection with Sarpanitu, then I trust in that connection… I trust YOU!
Comparing… We are beings of great power, but we’re not immune to the fundamental emotions that shape the human experience.
Oh… you can take my word for it, for I gave birth to one!
Yet…
We’ll need to tread carefully, Marduk. The balance between our world and the human world is fragile, and your relationship with Sereth could potentially affect that balance. But, together, we’ll find a way to navigate these uncharted waters. And who knows, perhaps this love story will bring something unique and beautiful to be carved in stone.
Marduk:
You think I should carry one with this wedding idea, or?
Inanna:
Marduk, you should always do what your heart commands you too. Forget about all the rules! It’s love we’re talking about. I’ll create whatever ruse it is needed to see this plan to the end.
Just promise me one thing, big brother. Promise that you’ll always prioritize the greater good, that you’ll use your wisdom and strength to ensure that our actions, including matters of the heart, serve the best interests of both our kind and humanity.
Marduk:
You have my word, sister!
Inanna:
OH don’t even think on getting those awful Anunnaki weddings… I’l plan a whole new concept for the two of you… ok?
You don’t have to answer… you don’t have a choice!
And so, under the moonlit sky on that lofty balcony, surrounded by the amalgamation of our two worlds, I shared my heart with Inanna, and she, in her youthful wisdom, offered her unwavering support.
Inanna’s support was like a soothing balm for my soul. Her genuine happiness and understanding were a testament to the bond we shared as siblings. In that moment, I realized that even amidst the complexities of our roles as Anunnaki and our responsibilities to both our kind and humanity, family remained a constant source of strength and solace.
As we continued to converse, the night wore on, and the moon ascended higher into the starry sky. The city of Babylon continued to pulse with life below, a testament to the progress and enlightenment we had brought to Earth.
Inanna’s presence, her support, and her unwavering belief in the potential of our love story filled me with hope and optimism. Together, we would face the challenges and uncertainties that lay ahead, for we were bound not only by blood but by a shared commitment to the betterment of our realms.
With Inanna by my side, I felt ready to take on the world!
